MARINERONG Pilipino looks to sail back on course when the Skippers take on Batangas-EAC in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Thursday
The second match of the tripleheader starts at 3 p.m. at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Tagged as championship contenders before the season started, the Skippers seemed to have lost steam after winning their opener against Zark's Burger.
Losing the next two matches should be a wake-up call for Marinerong Pilipino, said coach Koy Banal.
“We need to respect our opponents. We cannot afford to play individually," Banal said.
"We need to play like a team and we need to embrace the system. We cannot allow our opponent to outhustle us. We cannot be one step late."
Like Marinerong Pilipino, Batangas-EAC also seeks to halt a two-game slide. Head coach Ariel Sison is optimistic the Generals will come out with the victory sooner than later.
“The team is positive that our first win is on its way. We will do everything. Sana makuha namin ang panalo,” Sison said.
Meanwhile, Gamboa Coffee Mix-St. Clare (1-1) shoots for a second straight victory as the Coffee Lovers tackle the winless Mila's Lechon (0-2) in the 5 p.m. match.
In the opening game, Che'Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian (1-1) also hopes to bounce back and keep struggling AMA Online Education (0-2) winless in their 1 p.m. showdown. The Revellers won’t go easy on the Titans after blowing a huge lead in their 82-83 loss to Wangs last week.
“We want to come back strong after the sorry loss we had against Wangs. We learned that we should not be complacent even when we have a big lead,” said head coach Stevenson Tiu.
