MARINERONG Pilipino took control early and posted a 106-64 blowout of Batangas for its second win in the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup Monday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Trevis Jackson and Robbie Manalang anchored the early attack as the Skippers took a 53-24 first half lead.

Manalang went 4-of-7 from downtown to top Marinerong Pilipino with 20 points and three assists, while Jackson collated 19 points, four rebounds and four dimes.

Coach Koy Banal also netted solid contributions from Jorey Napoles, Abu Tratter and Javi Gomez de Liaño, all of whom scored 10 points apiece.

“Thankful ako na they responded to the challenge after playing that horrible second half against Che’Lu,” remarked Banal as the Skippers redeemed themselves from an 88-71 defeat to Che’Lu Bar and Grill last week.

Banal hopes this comfortable win would set the tone for Marinerong Pilipino’s next games.

“I hope nasend namin yung right message sa team na they have to learn how to play the game the right way. Whoever going up against, whatever the situation is, we want to play the same way,” he said.

The Skippers rose to 2-1, while sending the Generals down to a 1-2 slate.

Cedric de Joya led Batangas with 19 points and five rebounds.
