    Marinero erases 18-point deficit to beat EAC for third straight win

    MARINERONG Pilipino-TIP battled back from 18-points down, beating Batangas-EAC, 80-74, on Monday in the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

    Trevis Jackson led the rampage with 20 points, six rebounds and four steals as the Engineers extended their win streak to three.

    Robbie Manalang also played big for Marinerong Pilipino-TIP with 11 points, three boards and two assists, while Jorey Napoles and newcomer Irvin Palencia both had 10.

    The Engineers recovered from their poor play which saw them trail, 59-41, at the 4:10 mark of the third quarter before storming back and tying the game at 72, with 3:36 left in the game.

    “I can’t believe it,” said coach Koy Banal. “Positive attitude creates positive results.”

    “At first, we’re not getting our bearings. We prepared well for this game and I thought we are ready. But the reminder we had to them in the second half is that you will not be in this team if you are not a winner. Winners find ways to win and turn things around and that’s what they did.”

    The Engineers took full control of the game in the fourth quarter, where it thoroughly outscored the Generals, 32-9.

    Marinerong Pilipino-TIP looks to formalize its entry to the semifinals when it battles Go for Gold on Monday.

    Clark Bautista paced Batangas-EAC (3-5) with 15 points on 3-of-5 shooting from the 3-point line, but turned the ball over nine times.

    Earvin Mendoza scored 12, while Oliver Arim had 11 points.
