MARCY Arellano looks like the veteran leader Mila’s Lechon badly needs.
The 31-year-old is set to play for Mila’s Lechon in the Aspirants Cup following his stint with Gamboa Coffee the previous PBA D-League conference, bringing much-needed experience to a new team that's hoping to make a mark in the developmental league.
“Parang kuya. Marami kasing bago. Mostly guidance lang din sa mga bata,” said Arellano in an interview prior to a recent practice session at the SGS Stadium.
Arellano said Mila’s Lechon is still in the process of completing its lineup but said the team already has signed up college standouts Clark Derige, Axel Inigo, Andoy Estrella, and Leo Gabo.
Mila’s also has veterans Ken Acibar, Mike Parala, and Mark Sarangay, according to Arellano.
The team is still without a coach, Arellano said, although sources said former Letran cager Boyet Bautista, one of the assistant coaches at Gamboa last conference, is being eyed for the role.
“May buong December pa kami to finalize the lineup... Hindi pa rin kami kumpleto pero may mga ibang player na kami na may pangalan,” said Arellano.
Arellano said developing chemistry will be most crucial as Mila’s will be facing several teams that have tie-ups with colleges and universities.
”Mostly kasi sa D-League ngayon, school-based. Kami naman, may mga beterano. Sana, at least makapasok kami sa quarters. ‘Yun ang goal namin."
