MARCY Arellano hit a basket with 3.8 seconds left as Cebuana Lhuillier beat Boracay Rum in overtime, 74-72, on Thursday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Arellano finished with 11 points as the Gems overcame a 13-point deficit to take solo second spot with a 5-1 win-loss card behind NLEX, which is unbeaten in seven games.
Boracay Rum’s Rudy Lingganay scored a follow-up on the final possession of the game but the referees ruled the basket was made after the buzzer.
Bam Gamalinda buried a triple with 19 seconds to play in regulation as the Gems tied the game at 59 after storming back from a 42-55 deficit.
Cebuana Lhuillier hit three triples in overtime, with Alvin Padilla making it a 72-66 game. Mark Belo, however, tied the match with 12.1 seconds to play in the extra period.
James Martinez had 19 points on 3-of-6 shooting from behind-the-arc, while Paul Zamar added 12 points including three triples for the Gems. Gamalinda scored 12.
Belo had 13 points for the Waves, who missed Chris Banchero due to a shoulder injury.
