MACMAC Tallo impressed in his PBA D-League Foundation Cup debut, lifting Alibaba to a 118-100 romp over AMA Online Education on Thursday.
Living up to expectations, Tallo fired 15 of his 20 points in the first 20 minutes of action to help Alibaba take a commanding lead early before cruising to victory for a winning start in the team’s Foundation Cup campaign.
None was happier than head coach Jerry Codinera, adding that the former Southwestern University star still has something up his sleeve.
“Impressive si Mac sa first game nya sa amin. I hope he continues to do that," said Codinera shortly after the match at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
But while he turned heads with his offensive repertoire, the two-time Cesafi MVP feels he didn't excel as much on defense.
That's what he's been working on since joining the team more than a month ago, and Tallo hopes his defense shows its teeth before Alibaba take on other contenders like Cignal and Tanduay.
"Gusto ko ma-improve pa yung defense ko. Kanina, nakita ko, kulang pa talaga depensa ko," he said.
For now, though, he's savoring his stellar performance that also came with three rebounds and four assists.
"Sobrang sarap," he said. ""In-expect ko talaga na may ipapakita ako pero hindi ganun ka taas yung expectation ko."
