RACAL guard Macmac Tallo took two dribbles from top of the key before breezing through Rob Celiz and Mark Juruena for an easy layup with less than six minutes to go at the Ynares Sports Arena.
That play was one of the many easy baskets Racal made the entire way in a 50-point drubbing of league debutant Zark's Burger, 140-90, in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Thursday.
After jumping to a commanding 38-20 lead, Racal proved to be too much for the Jawbreakers and went on to carve out a slice of history by setting the most points scored in a game in the league.
Racal surpassed the previous record set by Tanduay in its 133-78 rout of Mindanao Aguilas 133-78 in the Foundation Cup last season. That Mindanao team, incidentally, was also coached by Zark's mentor Jade Padrigao.
"It's a big achievement for the team," said Racal coach Jerry Codinera.
Racal, which registered its second straight victory, never eased up on the gas pedal as the lead got as big as 54 points at one point.
Tallo topscored for the team with 26 points, three rebounds, and five assists while Gwyne Capacio added 23 points.
Kent Salado also became just the third player to post a triple double with a dazzling performance that came with 11 points 10 rebounds, and 13 assists against a single turnover.
"Sabi ko lang let's have a good start, get ready for Robbie Celiz," said Codinera said. "Kahit papaano nagje-jell na yung team. Yung mga panalo namin are giving us positive vibes."
Celiz still raked in game-high 28 points to go with four rebounds and five assists, but his sterling performance failed to rescue the Jawbreakers.
Tata Bautista and RR De Leon added 17 and 13 markers, respectively, for Zark's.
