ZAMBALES M-Builders wraps up what has been a tumultuous campaign in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup when it clashes with powerhouse NLEX on Thursday.
The M-Builders take on the Road Warriors at 4 p.m. for their final regular season game.
The embattled team currently totes a lowly 2-10 record after losing nine straight games. And chances of ending its stint on a winning note appears slim.
The M-Builders played with only nine players in their 68-94 loss to National University-Banco De Oro last Monday as several stalwarts and members of the team’s staff reportedly left the franchise due to unpaid salaries, according to reports reaching the league.
It is unclear until posting time whether the players who left will be returning for the team’s final match against NLEX.
Among the nine who suited up for Zambales included Far Eastern University star Mike Tolomia, whose brother Chester is one of the assistant coaches of the squad.
But just like M-Builders, the Road Warriors are also hoping to end their elimination round campaign and enter the playoffs on a high note.
NLEX is seeking to bounce back after suffering a stunning 78-74 loss to Cagayan Valley last Tuesday to drop to second place with a 10-2 win-loss card.
The Road Warriors, however, can still end up as the top seed team if Big Chill loses to Hog’s Breath Café in the first game.
Garvo Lanete, the team’s top scorer, remains doubtful for the game after suffering a sprained shoulder in the Road Warriors match against Derulo Accelero.
