L-JAY Gonzales took hold of the steering wheel as Chadao-FEU zoomed past Wangs Basketball, 71-63, on Tuesday in the 2019 PBA D-League at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
The cat-quick sophomore guard had 20 points, eight rebounds and four assists as he towed the Tamaraws to the fourth spot in the Foundation Group with a 4-3 win-loss record.
"Yung improvement ng team namin, nagmumula kay L-Jay," said coach Olsen Racela of his starting point guard.
"Feeling ko we've been improving every game and yun naman ang goal namin, to improve in every game we play. Yun ang nangyayari sa amin."
But it wasn't all Gonzales, as Branrey Bienes added 13 points and three boards, while Joseph Nunag had 10 points and three rebounds for Chadao-FEU.
Arvin Tolentino led the way for the Couriers in his first game against his collegiate team with 17 points and 13 rebounds, but Wangs could only get to as close as three, 59-56 midway through the fourth period before Chadao-FEU cruised to victory behind Gonzales, Hubert Cani and Barkley Ebona.
The Couriers fell to an even 3-3 card to drop to joint fifth with Marinerong Pilipino.
