KEVIN Quiambao won’t be suiting up for the De La Salle Green Archers — at least in the Taft side’s forthcoming titlte defense in the upcoming 2024 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup.
The preseason tilt’s reigning Finals MVP, who went on to complete the treble in UAAP Season 86 with the title, MVP, and Finals MVP nods, was excluded from the EcoOil-La Salle roster as per the league website.
Instead, newly-crowned champion coach Topex Robinson’s Green Archers will feature an array of mainstays from the title-winning team in Earl Abadam, Raven Cortez, Joshua David, Jonnel Policarpio, and Season 86 3x3 MVP CJ Austria.
Since winning the UAAP crown with La Salle, Quiambao has gone on to join Strong Group Athletics in its silver-medal finish in the 2024 Dubai International Basketball Championship as an All-Tournament Team member.
In a matter of weeks since his Dubai stint, KQ was subsequently handpicked by another champion mentor in Tim Cone for Gilas Pilipinas’ 12-man player pool for the four-year Fiba cycle.
SPIN.ph has reached out to Robinson on Quiambao’s exclusion from their PBA D-League roster but has yet to respond as of posting time.
The KQ-less Taft side will launch its grand slam bid versus league newcomer CCI-Yengskivel on Thursday, 7:30 p.m., at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
