JUSTIN Gutang scattered 20 points as Go for Gold-CSB got back to its winning ways with a 102-87 rout of Batangas-EAC on Thursday in the 2019 PBA D-League at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The Fil-Am forward also had eight assists, six steals and three rebounds as the Scratchers improved to a 2-3 win-loss record in the Aspirants Group.
Roosevelt Adams had a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds, hitting three treys, as slotman Jeremiah Pangalangan had his best showing for Go for Gold-CSB with 13 points and three rebounds.
Yankie Haruna added 13 points and five boards off the bench, as Prince Carlos and Robi Nayve both had 10 points.
Carlos drilled back-to-back triples to give the Scratchers a 90-84 lead with 5:08 remaining.
Marwin Taywan answered back with a trey to close the gap, before Gutang and Adams put on the finishing touches on the 15-point lead.
"Di ako happy. We're up by 17, akala nila ang galing nila. We almost lost this game," rued coach Charles Tiu as his side wasted a 17-point first quarter lead, 28-11, and threw the ball away 28 times.
"We have to play the right way. We're gonna get killed if we play this way."
Allan Martin paced Batangas-EAC (1-4) with 17 points, as Clark Derige had 13 points, seven boards, and two dimes.
