JUMBO Plastic barged into the win column with an 81-55 rout of fellow newcomer Hogs Breath Café on Tuesday in PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The win improved the Linoleum Giants record to 1-1, bouncing right back after a 51-86 defeat to Fruitas on opening day Tuesday.
“Nakapag-adjust na agad kami after ng first game,” said Jumbo Plastic head coach Stevenson Tiu. “Siguro overexcited lang ’yung mga players (nung first game) at nagaadjust pa kami. Nakapag-settle down na kaya naging maganda ang recovery.”
In the battle between newcomers in the league, the Linoleum Giants were clearly the better team as they jumped out of a 26-9 first quarter lead against the hapless Razorbacks.
Aljon Mariano had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Jumbo Plastic, former Ginebra draftee Elliot Tan scored 10 of his 13 points in the first half, while Marvin Hayes added 11 points.
The lone bright spot for the Razorbacks in their first outing in the league was Kevin Racal as the Letran Knight led the squad with 13 points.
