JUMBO Plastic captured its second straight win and kept its quarterfinal hopes alive, defeating Cebuana Lhuillier, 90-71, on Thursday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Linoleum Giants improved their win-loss record to 3-5 and climbed to 10th place, improving its chances for place in the next phase of the tournament.
“Nung una kasi, parang ang hirap manalo pero nung nakakuha kami ng magandang laro against Informatics, definitely hindi na mababa ang kumpiyansa namin,” said Jumbo Plastic assistant coach Joel Dualan.
Dualan took over the coaching chores in the game for Stevenson Tiu, who is coaching a Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association selection team in Taiwan.
Jett Vidal had 18 points to lead the way for Jumbo Plastic, Macky Acosta added 15 markers and Aljon Mariano had 14 points. Kirk Del Rosario and Marvin Hayes each had 12 markers.
The Gems dropped to an even 4-4 win-loss slate.
