JASON Ballesteros scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, as Jumbo Plastic Linoleum boosted its bid to grab one of two outright semifinal seats with a rout over Boracay Rum, 71-56, on Tuesday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Giants improved to 5-2, grabbing a share of second place with Cebuana Lhuillier, which bowed to Hogs Breath Café, 72-85.
Jumbo Plastic is seeking an outright semifinal seat after placing just third at the end of the Aspirants Cup elimination round.
“That is our goal. We still have two games to go. Sana may natutunan na kami sa last conference,” said Jumbo Plastic coach Stevenson Tiu.
Ballesteros scored eight points in the second half, helping the Giants pull ahead after a 32-24 halftime lead.
Jeff Viernes scored 11 of his team-high 15 points in the fourth period. Harry Petilos went scoreless but grabbed 10 rebounds.
Boracay Rum (3-4) slid to joint fifth place with Big Chill and Cagayan Valley.
