    Jumbo Plastic downs Arellano to move up to fifth spot

    JUMBO Plastic Linoleum trounced Arellano-Air21, 81-55, on Thursday to win its fourth game in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

    The Giants never trailed in the game as they outscored the lowly Chiefs, 22-8, in the second quarter for a commanding 42-23 halftime lead.

    “Ang target namin, ‘yung team na dapat namin talunin, magawa namin para magka-chance sa top six,” said Jumbo Plastic coach Stevenson Tiu.

    Jumbo Plastic improved to 4-1 to jump to fifth place ahead of idle Blackwater Sports (3-1).

    Mark Romero led Jumbo Plastic’s balanced scoring attack with 11 points, while Elliot Tan added nine points. Romero and Tan combined for 12 points in the pivotal second period.

    The Giants also made an effort to use all their 14 players including new recruits NCAA Mythical Five member Harold Arboleda and Mark Lopez.

    The Chiefs suffered their fourth loss in five outings.

    Arellano-Air21 (55) – Serjue 10, Agovida 9, Bangga 9, Jalalon 9, Hernandez 9, Palma 3, Arquero 2, Bartolo 2, Mendoza 2, Fran 0, Rogado 0, Cortes 0.

    Quarterscores: 20-15; 42-23; 62-38; 81-55.
