IT’S the battle of unbeaten teams as Jumbo Plastic Linoleum faces Big Chill on Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at The Arena in San Juan.

The Giants opened the conference with a 76-56 victory over National University-Banco De Oro, before beating Café France, 74-70, on Monday.

A win over the Superchargers in their 4 p.m. match-up will tie them with Cagayan Valley (3-0) for the early lead.

Jumbo Plastic coach Stevenson Tiu said it will be a huge test to play Big Chill, coming off a thrilling 92-91 victory over NU-Banco De Oro on Monday.

“We have to sustain it. Our next game will be a test of character. We have to stay focused,” said Tiu, who will be relying on ex-pro Jason Ballesteros and Jan Colina after both averages a team-best 14 points in the first two games.

Jumbo Plastic, managed by Jefferson Dela Cruz, along with Cagayan Valley, Big Chill, Hog’s Breath, and Blackwater Sports are all unbeaten yet.

Luck smiled on Big Chill in its game against NU-Banco De Oro after scoring five points in the final seconds of the game to escape with the exhilarating win.

Trailing 87-91, Janus Lozada converted a triple before Khazim Mirza scored a basket off a steal from Gelo Alolino to complete the Superchargers’ comeback.

But Big Chill coach Robert Sison admitted the team has to play better against Jumbo Plastic.

”A lucky win for us,” Sison said. “Definitely we need to play better than this when we play Jumbo. They’ve been playing well so we have to match their intensity. Their bigs are doing good but I like our chances.”

The Elite opened their bid for a second straight league championship when they beat Boracay Rum, 87-85 on Monday.

But Blackwater Sports is not about to take Wangs lightly as the Couriers only lost by two points over Zambales M-Builders, 74-76, last week.

    Team standings: Cagayan Valley 3-0, Jumbo Plastic 2-0, Blackwater Sports 1-0, Big Chill 1-0, Hogs Breath 1-0, Zambales M-Builders 2-1, Boracay Rum 1-1, Cebuana Lhuillier 1-1, Café France 1-2, Wangs Basketball 0-1, NU-BDO 0-2, Arellano-Air21 0-2, Derulo Accelero 0-3, NLEX 0-0.
