JUMBO Plastic fought back from a twin-digit deficit in the first quarter and Dexter Maiquez came up with huge baskets in the fourth as Jumbo Plastic Linoleum beat Cebuana Lhuillier, 63-61, on Monday to grab solo lead in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Maiquez scored seven of his team-high 14 points in the final canto, connecting on two triples to help the Giants hold on to the lead. His final triple gave the Giants a 61-56 advantage with 35.9 seconds to play.
The Giants recovered from an early 7-17 deficit and went on to record their second win in as many games.
Kevin Ferrer scored 14 points in his debut with the Gems. He hit a triple that closed the gap at 61-59 with 31.8 seconds. Maiquez split his two free throws with 13.7 ticks left.
