JUMBO Plastic Linoleum coach Stevenson Tiu claimed one of his players was a victim of a ‘sucker punch’ that took place moments after the Giants won over Cagayan Valley in their PBA D-League Foundation Cup game on Tuesday.

Tiu claimed Jumbo Plastic forward Jan Colina was punched by Cagayan Valley’s Jason Melano a few moments after the Giants defeated the Rising Suns, 70-64, at the JCSGO gym.

The head coach said witnesses saw Melano running away in the direction of the Rising Suns’ dugout after attack.

Tiu called the incident "unfortunate," adding that it spoiled a well-played game between both teams.

“It’s unfortunate this thing happened,” Tiu told reporters. “Both sides played well, pumangit tuloy dahil doon.”

Incidentally, Colina was instrumental in Jumbo Plastic’s victory as he helped the team finish with eight unanswered points to come away with the come-from-behind victory.

The PBA Commissioner’s Office, though, has yet to summon any of the parties involved in the incident at posting time.
