JUDEL Fuentes hit the biggest shot in Centro Escolar University's thrilling 79-75 win over Wangs Basktball-Letran in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Tuesday at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Orlan Wamar found an open Fuentes on the left corner for the go-ahead three-pointer to break the deadlock with 2.9 ticks remaining, 78-75.
Bong Quinto had the chance to tie the match but threw the ball away in the ensuing possession, before Keanu Caballero sealed the victory after making one of two free throws.
Thus, the Scorpions fortified their hold on the top spot with a superior 8-2 win-loss record, while the Couriers are still fighting for dear life with a 5-4 card.
Wamar led CEU with game-high 26 points, while Oliver Arim and Mishaal Veron added 13 points each.
Jerrick Balanza paced the Couriers with 25 points and three rebounds. Quinto added 16 markers and 14 rebounds.
