JOSHUA Fontanilla and Darwin Lunor led the way as St. Clare College Virtual Reality scored a 119-89 win over AMA Online Education on Tuesday at JSCGO Gym in Cubao to reach the 2019 PBA D-League playoffs.
The Saints took control with a 35-20 first quarter and eased to victory.
Fontanilla dropped 11 of his 16 points in the first half and finished with six rebounds and five assists, while Lunor had 13 points, 11 coming in the first two frames, while hauling down six boards and making three assists.
Five other players got to double-digits in scoring, with Irven Palencia and John Ambuludto scoring 14 points each.
"Gusto lang namin tapusin ng maganda ang eliminations. Sana madala namin sa next phase," said coach Jinino Manansala as his side held a lead as big as 33, 76-43.
St. Clare closed out its eliminations schedule at 6-3, but still has a chance to move up to second in the Aspirants Group and earn a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals if Ironcon-UST loses to Family Mart-Enderun on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Petron-Letran (6-3) has been booted out of the playoff race due to an inferior quotient.
Joshua Munzon wound up with 27 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and three steals as AMA exited the tournament with a 2-7 card.
Franky Johnson scored 19, while Troy Rike tallied a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards.
