MARINERONG Pilipino stayed in the hunt for a quarterfinal spot as the Skippers clobbered Gamboa Coffee Mix, 138-69, on Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The Skippers scored their fifth win in nine matches and boosted their chances of making the quarterfinals in their maiden conference.
Marinerong Pilipino took a 57-41 lead at halftime and went on to post the second biggest winning margin in league history.
Pao Javelona scored 16 points, going 4 for 4 from beyond the arc, while Joseph Marata also nailed four from long distance and wound up with 15 markers.
Renzo Subido and Ralph Salcedo had 12 points apiece, while Mark Isip, Dave Moralde, and Jeff Javillonar each contibuted 11 markers.
"It's really a confidence booster for us," said Marinerong Pilipino coach Koy Banal.
Leo Avenido led the Coffee Lovers with 24 points.
Gamboa absorbed its eight straight loss after beating beat Zark's Burger in the conference-opener.
