LOOKING to shore up its frontline, Flying V has tapped the services of former Purefoods enforcer Jondan Salvador.
Salvador, who last played for Barako Bull in the PBA, admitted that he's still working his way back into game shape but he is expected to suit up in the Thunder's next match against Wangs on June 13.
The 36-year-old cager first joined the team's practice on Friday, but admitted he's been struggling to keep up with the younger players like Jeron Teng.
"Ang tagal kong di nakapaglaro. Tinawagan ako four days ago, tinatanong kung available ako. Available naman kaso wala ako sa kundisyon," said Salvador, who watched the Flying V-Gamboa match at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig on Monday.
"(Nung nag-practice ako nung Friday) nakakasabay naman ako pero wala akong hangin... Sobrang excited ako makalaro kasi halos one year din ako hindi nakalaro ng competitive basketball," he added.
The burly forward said he is excited to test the mettle of the aspiring PBA players, as well as show them what to expect from the pros in terms of physicality.
"Gusto ko lang makatulong sa mga aspiring PBA candidates diyan like sila Jeron [Teng] at ma-share yung mga na-experience ko," he said.
While his primary role now is to guide his teammates, Salvador said he is hoping to make it back to the PBA.
"Pag maganda yung pinakita ko dito, baka may chance pa pag nakita ng mga coaches," he said.
