JOHN Ambulodto hit the game-winning jumper as Wangs escaped with a thrilling 88-86 win over Gamboa Coffee Mix on Tuesday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The Couriers, who nearly blew an eight-point lead late in the fourth period, improved to 2-2.
Ambulodto had only four points but made the biggest basket of the match with that jumper as time expired.
"Wala na akong magagawa kundi itira yun," said Ambulodto.
It was Robbie Herndon who led the Couriers the entire match with 27 points, five rebounds and two assists, while Mihael Juico added 22 markers.
The Couriers took a 75-67 lead but the Coffee Lovers turned the catch-up game into a nip-and-tuck contest in the final minutes.
Leo Avenido had 38 points and nine rebounds for Gamboa, which fell to a 1-3 card.
"Breaks of the game lang yung panalo," said Wangs coach Pablo Lucas.
Ken Acibar added 15 markers for the Coffee Lovers.
