GO for Gold-CSB gained steam in the fourth period on its way to a thrilling 75-68 win over Gamboa Coffee Mix-St. Clare in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Pasig Sports Center on Monday.
Trailing for the most part of the match, the Scratchers got going early in the payoff period and took a 57-55 lead on J-Jay Alejandro's basket.
Edward Dixon followed it up with a triple, before Unique Naboa's basket made it a 10-point game, 67-57 with four minutes left.
The Coffee Lovers, though, refused throw in the white towel and got to within three, 68-71, on Trevis Jackson's jumper.
Jerwin Gaco then restored order with a quick basket and sealed the win with a pair of free throws after Aris Dionisio missed all three shots from the free throw line.
Go for Gold coach Charles Tiu admitted they have yet to learn how to play in sync but was happy nonetheless with how his wards played late in the match.
"We're a new team. Di pa sanay. We're not yet familiar with each other. But I’m happy naman," Tiu said.
Dionisio paced the Coffee Lovers with 19 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block.
