JERON Teng expressed his concern over Flying V's defense even as they cruised to their second straight victory in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
The former La Salle Green Archers star said the Thunder went sluggish on the defensive end after seizing control of the match in the second period, allowing Gamboa Coffee Mix to score more than 100 on Monday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
"We relaxed on defense kasi they scored more than 100 points against our team. We don't like that, it's a no-no for us," said Teng.
As good as their offense was, Teng said they need to put premium on defense if they are to establish themselves as a title contender.
"We're not happy kasi yung purpose namin is more than just winning games e, we wanna improve and improve and eventually compete for the championship. yun target namin kaya we can really have bad games such as this," he said.
Still, there's much to celebrate as the Thunder claimed their second straight victory after the upset over Aspirants' Cup champions Cignal on opening day.
But Teng said the Thunder still have a long way to go.
"It just shows our capability. We know what we can do e, we just have to really work hard for it. We can't relax and we just have to continuosly improve," he said.
