STAMPING his class all conference long, Che’Lu Bar and Grill ace guard Jeff Viernes claimed the Conference MVP award for the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old slasher was the undisputed leader for the Revellers as they earned a return trip to the finals in their attempt to redeem themselves from a bridesmaid finish in the Aspirants’ Cup.
Viernes has been doing it all for Che’Lu, averaging a league-best 19.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 2.0 steals, making him the hands down choice for the highest individual plum for the conference.
He also made history being the first ex-pro to bag the hardware in the eight-year existence of the developmental league after previous stints in Phoenix and GlobalPort in the PBA.
Viernes edged Go for Gold’s Gab Banal, Marinerong Pilipino-TIP’s Trevis Jackson, and Che’Lu Bar and Grill’s Jessie Collado for the award.
