Che’lu Bar and Grill’s selfless big man, Jay-R Taganas, wants to win this 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup title for his teammates to experience the feeling of being the champions.

“Naglaro na ko dati sa NLEX, nakatatlo na ko doon so eto sana mag-champion para yung’ ibang teammates ko na hindi pa nagcha-champion matulungan ko naman para maramdaman nila yung feeling,” shared the D-League mainstay, who was with NLEX when it won its three of the six titles in the semi-pro ranks.

It was 2011 when Taganas last won the D-League championship, which makes him more eager to deliver the title for head coach Steve Tiu and the Revellers.

“Sobrang gigil kasi yun nga matagal na mga ilang taon na rin ‘yun. Kailangan ko rin ibalik yung tiwala ni Coach Steve,” said Taganas, who won back-to-back PCBL titles with Tiu for Jumboplastic.

“Sa akin kasi nung dati pang nagliga nag-champion kami. So si Coach Steve dito sa D-League parang hindi pa nagcha-champion so kailangan kong tulungan para makuha namin championship.”

But before the 6-foot-4 center can fulfill his dream for Che’lu Bar and Grill, they have to go back to the drawing board as Go for Gold rolled to a 105-81 rout and equalized the best-of-five Finals series on Tuesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

“Siguro noong sa second half kasi nawala ‘yung depensa namin so parang nung lumamang kami ng pito nag-relax kami ‘yun,” said Taganas, who had five points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the loss. “Siguro sa effort kasi nung second half medyo pagod na parang nawala ‘yung effort namin para maglaro siguro ‘yun ‘yung nangyari.”

Taganas was part of the Revellers side that squandered a 1-0 series lead and allowed Zark’s Burger to win the Aspirant’s Cup title.

But for the former San Beda standout, it’s not time to lose hope as they play a longer series this time and try to get their acts back together in Game Three on Thursday.

Taganas insisted that they just have to remember their amazing second-half comeback in Game One last week.

“Ibalik lang namin ‘yung game 1, ‘yung laro namin nung second half, so parang pag ginawa namin ‘yung laro namin nung second half last game may tsansa kami manalo next game tsaka sa mga susunod na laro,” he concluded. “Kailangan lang namin ibalik ‘yung laro namin, yung effort namin, gawin lang namin ‘yung dati naming ginagawa para manalo.”
