MARINERONG Pilipino-TIP jumped on AMA Online Education early and never looked back, snapping its two-game losing run with a 105-80 blowout win on Tuesday in the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Javi Gomez de Liaño scattered a career-best 27 points and hauled down five rebounds as the Engineers evened their record to 3-3.
Robbie Manalang went 6 for 11 from downtown and finished with 21 points, three assists and two boards, while Senegalese big man Papa Ndiaye tallied a double-double of 13 points and 16 rebounds for the Engineers.
Marinerong Pilipino-TIP put on its running shoes early, grabbing a 29-12 advantage in the first quarter to take the air out of AMA early, before extending the lead to as high as 29 points, 87-58, late in the third quarter.
“I hope the players will respond to this. We want to take this game a sa momentum-builder,” said coach Koy Banal.
“It’s not gonna be easy, but if they will just listen and follow our system, maybe we could turn things around. That’s what we’ve been hoping for.”
Owen Graham topped the still-winless Titans (0-6) with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Ken Soriano got 16 points and five boards.
