JASON Perkins and Oping Sumalinog led a strong start and the Cignal Hawkeyes cruised to a 94-69 victory over Wangs Basketball on Thursday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Perkins and Sumalinog combined for 20 points in a furious 23-3 start for the Hawkeyes, improve their win-loss record to 6-2.

Coming off a 93-84 upset of Racal, Wangs crashed back to Earth and fell to a 3-3 card.

Perkins finished with game-high 24 points, five rebounds and two blocks, while Pamboy Raymundo chipped in 18 markers.

Sumalinog added 15 points, five rebounds and two blocks.

But Cignal coach Boyet Fernandez believes it was their defense that spelled the difference.

"Yung starters ko stepped up their defense," said Fernandez.

The loss spoiled an impressive 19-point, nine-rebound, four-block outing for John Ambulodto.

Ryan Arambulo scored 14 and Christian Dechavez added 12 points for the Couriers.
