CAIDA Tiles beat Mindanao Aguilas, 95-87, on Tuesday to regain a share of first place in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup.
The Tile Masters surprisingly had to work hard for the victory against the Aguilas, breaking away after trailing by nine early in the fourth period.
Caida joined Café France on top with a 6-1 win-loss card.
Jason Perkins converted a 3-pointer to give the Tile Masters a 92-87 lead with 38.6 seconds left, ending the threat by the Aguilas, who led, 75-66, early in the fourth.
Caida coach Caloy Garcia was disappointed with how the Tile Masters treated the match against an Aguilas side that has only one win to show in seven games.
"We played bad today. It's just that we're too complacent from the beginning. We have to learn from this and going to the next game,” said Garcia.
Philip Paniamogan had 18 points, while Roider Cabrera chipped in 15 points for Caida. The two combined for five triples in the game.
Eric Salamat scored 21 points in his debut with the Aguilas.
