JASON Melano scored the tiebreaking basket with 12.2 seconds to play in the final quarter, helping Cagayan Gerry's escape with an 87-84 win over Tanduay Light on Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Arena in Pasig.
Melano shattered an 84-84 deadlock and the Rising Suns went on to win their third straight game.
Roi Sumang scored a game-high 25 points for Tanduay Light but missed a crucial triple in the dying moments, while Melano split two free throws for the final score.
The Rising Suns improved their win-loss mark to 4-2, while the Rhum Masters suffered their fourth straight defeat after winning their opener.
Don Trollano led Cagayan scorers with 18 points.
