JAN Colina and Jason Ballesteros scored key baskets in a late fourth quarter run to help Jumbo Plastic Linoleum beat Cagayan Valley, 70-64, on Tuesday and climb to joint second place in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the JCSGO gym in Quezon City.
Colina and Ballesteros combined for only 12 points in the game but sparked an 8-0 finish for the Giants to steal the victory from the Rising Suns.
A three-pointer by Colina at the 1:08-mark put the Giants ahead 65-64, and Ballesteros made his only field goal in the game 40 seconds later for a three-point Jumbo lead.
Jumbo Plastic is now tied with Cebuana Lhuillier with a 4-1 win-loss card, behind undefeated NLEX (6-0).
The late run capped off a tight contest that saw both teams in a deadlock, 50-50, at the end of the third. Kenneth Ighalo scored on a lay-up with 2:20 left in the game for Cagayan Valley’s last lead at 64-62.
Jeff Viernes scored 14 points, while Jerick Canada and Elliot Tan added 13 for the Giants.
The Rising Suns (2-4) fell to their second straight defeat.
