Throughout his weight-loss program, Villanueva stuck to a military diet in which he ate controlled portions in each of his three meals per day.

"Portion portion lang 'yung breakfast, lunch, and dinner ko tapos ngayon, one meal a day na lang ako. Lunch na lang ako kumakain," said Villanueva, who bared his food intake include tuna, fruits, crackers, cheese, and egg.

Villanueva said he is now used to his no-rice diet.

"Sobra 'yung improvement kasi sobrang nagagawa ko na 'yung gusto ko sa court. Nakakatakbo na ako ng mabilis, nakaka-rebound ako ng maganda," said Villanueva.

As for his performance on Monday, Villanueva gave a big part of the credit to AMA head coach Mark Herrera.
