Hog's Cafe Razorbacks bracing for a scrap against Cagayan Valley

    Feb 3, 2014
“We know that they play physical. We just have to be ready for the physicality. As long as we play within our system, we have the advantage,” says Hog's Cafe coach Caloy Garcia ahead of their quarterfinal clash against Cagayan Valley.

HOG’S Breath Café prepares for a physical battle against Cagayan Valley as the Razorbacks eye a first ever semifinal berth in franchise history opposite the Rising Suns in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.

The Razorbacks-Rising Suns encounter is set at 4 p.m.

Hog’s Breath has a slight advantage over Cagayan Valley, having won their November 11 match, 82-78.

After winning just a game in their debut conference in the Foundation Cup, the Razorbacks claimed a quarterfinals berth after finishing with a 10-3 win-loss slate to take the fourth-seed and a twice-to-beat edge in the playoffs.

Hog’s Breath head coach Caloy Garcia, however, said it won’t be an easy series against Cagayan Valley, which finished as the No. 5 seed with a 9-4 win-loss slate.

“We know that they play physical. We just have to be ready for the physicality. As long as we play within our system, we have the advantage,” said Garcia.

The winner of the series will face top-seed NLEX in a best-of-three semifinal series.

Cagayan Valley is also coming to the game on a high after beating NLEX to cap off  its elimination round campaign.

“We want to come into the quarterfinals with a high morale,” said Cagayan Valley assistant coach Raymond Valenzona after the NLEX win.

Incidentally, Hog’s Breath also defeated NLEX early in the eliminations.
