GO For Gold-College of Saint Benilde notched its second straight victory after beating Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College, 106-95, on Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Scratchers improved their record to 4-3, after beating top team Centro Escolar University in their previous match-up.

But Go For Gold-CSB coach Charles Tiu rued the lackluster effort of the team after Batangas-EAC tried to claw back from 12 points down, only for the Scratchers to pull away late and seal the win.

Batangas-EAC fell to the bottom of the standings with a 1-6 slate.

“We have a tendency to think that we are better than who we really are. Sometimes, we play so well but if look at it, we lost to JRU. Kami lang ang panalo ng JRU,” said Tiu.

“I don’t know why the guys are thinking that way. We haven’t proven anything in the NCAA or in the D-League for us to think that we can take teams lightly. It’s disappointing in that sense. But we are happy we got the win,” he added.

Go For Gold is now tied for seventh place with Zark’s-Lyceum in the team standings.

Yankee Haruna had 23 points, eight in the fourth as he sparked a run that put the Scratchers ahead, 85-78. Jerwin Gaco had 21 points and 10 rebounds for Go For Gold-CSB.

Cedrick Ablaza had 21 points for Batangas-EAC.
