Parks sparks early run as Hapee eases past Bread Story Lyceum to remain unbeaten

    Nov 17, 2014

BOBBY Ray Parks had 10 of his 18 points in the first quarter as Hapee used a fiery start to beat BreadStory-Lyceum, 67-52, on Monday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Fresh Fighters were never seriously threatened, taking full control early to claim their fourth victory in as many games.

“’Yun talaga ’yung tinatrabaho nila. ’Yung maging depensa ang bala, hindi opensa. For us to sustain our initial feffort, kailangan talaga maka-depensa kami,” said Hapee coach Ronnie Magsanoc.

Parks also had eight rebounds and three steals for the Fresh Fighters, who had seven collegiate players returning as late as Monday morning after seeing action in Cebu in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League Cebu leg.

Despite missing the core of San Beda players in the past days, the Fresh Fighters remained in top form, leading by as many as 22 points in the third period.

Kirk Long had 11 points, while Red Lions star guard Baser Amer added eight for the Fresh Fighters.

Joseph Gabayni had 14 points for the Pirates, who slid to a 1-3 win-loss record. Bread Story also missed Jiovani Jalalon, who saw action for the Arellano Chiefs in the PCCL.
