GO For Gold-College of Saint Benilde walloped AMA Online Education, 122-82, on Monday at the Pasig Sports Center to cap off its campaign in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup with a win.
The Scratchers ended their maiden PBA D-League conference at eighth place with a 5-6 win-loss record, still short of the six berths for the playoffs.
Matt Salem started out with bang, scoring 13 of his 18 points in the first quarter as the Scratchers took a 31-13 lead. Jimboy Pasturan had 18, while Paul Desiderio added 16 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists for Go For Gold.
AMA played with only eight players, missing the services of Robbie Manalang, Mark Andaya, and Jay-R Taganas, among others.
“Today we played well against AMA pero wala eh, walang gana rin ‘yung AMA, wala silang player so I don’t really take too much from this,” said Go For Gold coach Charles Tiu. ”But at least, we ended on a positive note.”
AMA fell to the 12th and final place in the team standings, following Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College’s shocking with over erstwhile first-placer Centro Escolar University. Carlo Escalambre had 24 points for the Titans, who dropped to a 1-9 card with one game to play in the conference.
