NOTHING can emphasize the importance of this Game Three affair as Go for Gold and Che’Lu Bar and Grill eye to close in on winning the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup when they clash on Thursday.
The icebreaker between the rivals will be at 5 p.m., still at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, with the winner getting one hand in the trophy and sending the loser in desperation town.
Momentum is on the side of the Scratchers, who finally got over the hump of the Revellers with an emphatic 105-81 trouncing last Tuesday to level the best-of-five series to one game apiece.
And they have no one else to thank but Gab Banal, who went supernova in the game and shot seven threes to lead his side with 33 points in the rout.
His sweet-shooting rubbed off on his teammates as Go for Gold went on a blazing 51-percent from downtown to drill 15 triples as a unit, something it would love to replicate for this all-important tussle.
Still, coach Charles Tiu knows that the Scratchers getting one win over the Revellers doesn’t amount to anything at this point yet.
“I can’t say we solved their puzzle until we beat them two more times,” he said.
For Che’Lu, it’s a matter of going back to basics as coach Stevenson Tiu wants to see his old crew bounce back from the slump it went through in the last game.
“Kulang kami sa intensity at focus. Yun ang dapat naming ayusin sa Game 3,” he said.
Jeff Viernes is tasked to carry the mantle in leading the top-seed Revellers to snag that 2-1 series lead.
