GO for Gold-CSB and Che'Lu Bar and Grill aim to strengthen its positioning in the top four of the Aspirants Group when they collide Monday in the 2019 PBA D-League at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
It will be a rematch of the 2018 Foundation Cup finalists although both squads ow have different lineups. Gametime is at 3 p.m.
The Scratchers (2-3) seemingly rectified their early struggles with a solid 102-87 win over Batangas-EAC last April 4, but coach Charles Tiu remains unsatisfied with how his wards have held themselves through their first five games.
"We have to play the right way. We're gonna get killed if we play this way," the youthful mentor said as his side ranks second-worst in turnovers with 21.2 miscues per game.
Working in Go for Gold-CSB's favor, though, has been the leadership of Justin Gutang, who averages a fourth-best 21.8 points per game.
Helping him in the Scratchers' cause are senior Yankie Haruna and the returning Roosevelt Adams as they shoot for their first winning streak of the season.
It won't be easy, though, especially with the Revellers (3-1) drawing solid contributions from newcomers Sean Manganti, Rey Suerte, and Chris Dumapig.
The trio, together with holdovers Jessie Collado, Jay-R Taganas and Foundation Cup MVP Jeff Viernes, were instrumental in Che'Lu's 109-99 win over McDavid back in March 25 as coach Stevenson Tiu guns to sustain the momentum from that game and make it three straight for his squad.
"Ang problem kasi with the schedule, ang haba ng break. Sana lang ma-carry namin sa susunod na game," he said.
Meanwhile, slumping squads AMA Online Education (1-3), led by league top scorer Joshua Munzon, and the young Batangas-EAC team (1-4) aim to end their misfortunes when they clash in the curtain-raiser at 1 p.m.
