NATIONAL University-Banco De Oro defeated Cebuana Lhuillier, 93-75, on Thursday to notch its third win in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the JCSGO gym.
Glenn Khobuntin finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs, who improved their win-loss record to 3-8.
The Bulldogs started out the fourth quarter strong before launching an 11-0 run to secure the win.
“Ang importante is we are playing hard,” said NU-BDO coach Eric Altamirano, noting that although the Bulldogs’ will be making an early exit, their participation in the tournament is important for the players’ development.
“I have to give it to the boys na alam nila na puro mga mama ang kalaban nila, they are playing hard.”
Troy Rosario had 18 points, while Bobby Ray Parks added 17 points for NU-BDO.
The Gems dropped to 5-7 and will close out their Aspirants Cup campaign with a match against Blackwater Sports, which is seeking a win to clinch a quarterfinal berth.
