CEBUANA Lhuillier opened with a big 29-8 lead and never looked back, trouncing Informatics, 101-76, on Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at The Arena in San Juan.

The Gems captured their fourth win in six tries to close in on the leaders. Blackwater and Cafe France are tied for the lead with 4-1 win-loss records.

“The team really deserved to win,” said Cebuana Lhuillier coach Beaujing Acot. “We didn’t look at Informatics as a last-placed team. We looked at it as kalaban sa puwestuhan.”

With the game already in the bag early, the Gems had the luxury of using all their players.

June Dizon finished with 14 points, while Gerald Bautista had 13 markers for the Gems. Raymond Aguilar and James Martinez had 12 and 11 markers each.

Bautista, Martinez, and John Lopez scored 20 of the Gems’ 29 points in the first period.

After scoring 32 points against Blackwater Sports in a losing effort, Jeric Teng pumped in 26 points for the Icons.
