CEBUANA Lhuillier guns for a third straight win as it takes on EA Regen Medical Group Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at The Arena in San Juan.
The Gems (4-2) will also seek to stay close behind leaders Blackwater Sports (5-1) and Fruitas (4-1) in their 12 noon showdown with the Regens.
Following losses to the Elite and the Shakers, the Gems suddenly put on a winning streak that leave them very much in contention for the two outright semifinal berths.
“We have learned valuable lessons from our defeats against Fruitas and Blackwater Sports,” said Cebuana Lhuillier coach Beaujing Acot. “The guys realized there are no shortcuts to success. Hopefully, we’ll be able to stay focused every game.”
The Gems are expected to get a stiff challenge from the Regens, who broke their two-game losing skid with a 103-92 win over Cagayan Valley last Thursday.
In other games, Café France looks to bounce back from its loss to NLEX when the Bakers face skidding Hog’s Breath Café at 4 p.m.
Like the Gems, the Bakers are eyeing their fifth win against the Razorbacks, losers of five of their six games.
Café France is relieved its three-game winning streak was broken after its loss to NLEX, 62-84, last Tuesday.
“The good thing about it is we lost to a champion team. The pressure of the winning streak is over. We have to move forward and start winning again,” said Macaraya.
In the second game, struggling teams Jumbo Plastic (1-5) and Informatics (0-5) clash at 2 p.m.
