HAPEE overwhelmed Tanduay Light, 73-53, on Thursday to join the early leaders in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Fresh Fighters went wire-to-wire, leading by as many as 30 points to score its second win in as many games and climb to the top with Café France, Cagayan Valley, and Jumbo Plastic Linoleum.
Hapee’s Garvo Lanete had 16 points, Ola Adeogun added 13, while Bobby Ray Parks chipped in 12 against Tanduay Light, which played without head coach Lawrence Chongson due to a one-game suspension for his comments about the developmental league.
Chris Newsome, the second overall pick by Tanduay who wound up signing with Hapee, scores six for the Fresh Fighters.

Coach Ronnie Magsanoc was pleased to see the Fresh Fighters come up with a better performance than the seven-point win in their opener.
“We played better than in our first game,” said Magsanoc.

“But it will take more effort for us to be able to sustain this dahil ang bibigat ng mga teams at na-infuse sila ng mga bagong pangalan. We just have to be on our toes.”
Roi Sumang had a team-high 13 points for the Rhum Masters, who trailed 55-25 in the third quarter.
