FRUITAS held Hog's Breath Cafe to only eight points in the final period to pull off a 70-53 win on Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Blue Eagle Gym.
Carlo Lastimosa had 15 points including eight in the final period as the Shakers outscored the Razorbacks by 13 points in the final period to break open what until then had been a close game.
The Shakers posted their sixth win in nine outings to remain in third place behind Blackwater Sports (7-2) and NLEX (6-2) in the race for the two outright berths in the semifinals.
The Razorbacks took a 20-14 lead at the end of the first period and remained in contention for a victory when they trailed by only four points, 45-49, at the end of the third.
But Lastimosa along with Anjo Caram ruined Hog’s Breath's upset bid by scoring 14 of the Fruitas’ 21 points in the final period.
Pong Escobal added 13 points while Caram tallied 12 markers. Russel Escoto had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Shakers.
Michael Lima had 11 points for the Razorbacks, who still have only one win to show after eight games.
