BINAN, Laguna - Phoenix ace guard Mike Tolomia entered Game Two of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup finals against Tanduay on a high after he received his MVP award. That proved to be the best part of a mostly disappointing night for him and the Accelerators
Tolomia received the plum before Phoenix battled Tanduay at the Alonte Sports Arena here. Unfortunately, his team succumbed to the Rhum Masters later that day, forcing a decision match on Thursday at the same venue.
"Una, masaya ako na nakuha ko yung award. Pangalawa, medyo may halong panghihinayang kasi di namin nakuha yung Game 2. Perfect sana kung nakuha namin," said Tolomia.
The former FEU star also bared he was not feeling well the past few days, but forced himself to play and thus ended up with an underwhelming eight points in Phoenix's 75-89 loss.
"Dapat hindi ako maglalaro ngayon kasi masama ang pakiramdam ko. Kaso syempre Finals na kaya di ko dapat iwanan ang mga kasama ko," said Tolomia, who headed to the hospital right after the match.
"Kagabi pa hirap ako matulog kasi barado ang ilong ko. Tinatrangkaso din ako," he added.
There will be no excuses for Tolomia when his Phoenix team battles Tanduay for the title decider, as he vowed to play regardless of his condition on Thursday.
"Maglalaro pa rin ako kahit may sakit ako," the spitfire guard said.
"Kung masama pa rin ang pakiramdam ko, kahit limited minutes to support my teammates, gagawin ko," added Tolomia.
