A LATE first-quarter outburst enabled Chadao-Far Eastern University to dispose of Perpetual, 83-64, on Thursday in the 2019 PBA D-League at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Patrick Tchuente and Ken Tuffin ignited the telling 12-0 run to end the first quarter that allowed the Tamaraws to create separation from the Altas, 26-14.
Cameroonian Tchuente tallied 12 points and seven rebounds and helped close the deal late when Chadao-FEU opened leads as big as 25, 80-55 with 2:27 left.
Branrey Bienes led the Tamaraws with 15 points, two assists, and two steals, Wendel Comboy got 14 points and four boards, as Tuffin and Barkley Ebona both had seven in the win.
"For the past week, ang focus namin was our defense, our aggressiveness on the full court. I think we achieved that today," said FEU coach Olsen Racela. "We made it hard for them to execute with our full-court pressure."
Chadao-FEU forced Perpetual to 18 turnovers and a measly 29-percent clip from the field.
The Tamaraws bounced back for an even 3-3 card in the Foundation Group, while the Altas fell to 1-4.
Ben Adamos was the lone Perpetual to get to double digits with 23 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.
