ERASE XFoliant and Cebuana Lhuillier, two teams sharing a place just above the cut line, try to boost their bids for berths in the next phase when they tangle in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup on Thursday at the Trinity University of Asia gym.

    Gametime is at 4 p.m.

The Erasers and Gems are tied for sixth place with Fruitas with 2-3 win-loss records, not a really secure place midway through the elimination round.

Only six teams advance to the next phase, with the bottom five squads getting an early vacation.

“Masaya na ako kapag nakapasok kami sa playoffs,” said Erase XFoliant coach Aric Del Rosario, a modest goal that will be tough to achieve considering the tough format.

Both teams are also looking to bounce back after heartbreaking losses.

Erase XFoliant bowed to Fruitas 73-78, while the Gems recently lost to Cagayan Valley, 82-86.

In the 2 p.m. game, Jose Rizal University faces winless Boracay Rum.

The Heavy Bombers recently lost to Blackwater Sports, 83-88, and hold a 1-3 record.

The Waves, meanwhile, are off to their worst start since joining the league four conferences ago, still without a win in five outings.
