ELOY Poligrates' quest for a PBA comeback may just see him claim another hardware as he is the frontrunner for the Conference MVP award in the 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
The 31-year-old Cebuano showman from Poro is in a league of his own since making his return to the developmental ranks, leading Marinerong Pilipino to its maiden Finals appearance.
Poligrates averaged 21 points on a 30-percent shooting from threes, along with 3.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.6 steals as his brilliance kept the Skippers unbeaten through eight games.
And he made history along the way, setting the PBA D-League record for most points scored with his 67-point masterpiece in Marinerong Pilipino's 141-97 victory over iWalk last August 26.

But as solid as Poligrates' case for the hardware is, there are still others who have legitimate claim to the trophy.
Joshua Fontanilla has been a stabilizing presence for BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Clare with his averages of 12.4 points, 6.4 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.0 steals as his steady playmaking anchored the Saints to their first-ever finals appearance.
The same is the case for Rich Guinitaran, whose numbers of 15.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists have been a constant in Centro Escolar University's campaign that ended in the semifinals.

Also in consideration for the plum are Marinerong Pilipino's Jhonard Clarito, BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Clare's Jhaps Bautista, CEU's Kurt Sunga, and TIP's Bryan Santos.
The Conference MVP award will be handed during the awarding ceremonies at the conclusion of the Finals between the Skippers and the Saints. Game One starts on Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
