CAFÉ France defeated KeraMix, 70-65, on Monday to close in on an outright semifinals berth in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Eloy Poligrates, returning to the Bakers after a stint with KIA in the PBA, scored only seven points but hit key baskets in the final period to help Café France improve its win-loss record to 6-2.
Café France is one victory away from an automatic berth in the semifinals.
Poligrates hit a triple to put Café France ahead, 60-59, and later converted a deuce with 24 seconds left that made it 69-63.
“He is a big factor in the end game. Experience-wise, he is really helping the team,” said Café France coach Egay Macaraya.
Rodrigue Ebondo scored 16 points while Maverick Ahanmisi and Jam Cortes added 12 for the Bakers.
KeraMix dropped to an even 4-4 slate.
