BLACKWATER Sports tries to inch closer to an outright semifinal berth as it tackles Boracay Rum on Thursday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Elite take on the Waves at 2 p.m.
Tipoff is set at 2 p.m. with the Elite, who hold a 7-2 win-loss record, still firmly in the running for one of the two automatic semifinals places despite a loss to NLEX last week.
Blackwater Sports coach Leo Isaac said that his team remains optimistic about their chances.
“We still maintain our positive mindset and we are looking forward to winning our remaining two games in the elims,” Isaac said.
The Waves (5-4) need a win for their own quarterfinal bid after coming off an 83-101 loss to Cagayan Valley last week.
In other matches, Jumbo Plastic goes for its fourth straight win, this time against EA Regen Medical Group at 12 noon.
The Linoleum Giants hold a 4-5 record that put them in contention for a quarterfinal berth although they will also have to rely on other teams for their fortunes. They recently defeated Big Chill, 70-69, to stay alive in the hunt.
“Our chances of making the quarterfinals aren’t too encouraging but we’re still hoping. We’ll try to win our last two games and see what happens,” said Jumbo Plastic coach Stevenson Tiu.
The Regens, who share fifth place with Boracay Rum, try to bounce back from a 73-77 loss to Big Chill last Tuesday.
NLEX goes for its seventh straight win against winless Informatics (0-9) at 4 p.m.
